March Greetings!

This marks 12 months of newsletters from me to you over one heck of a year! I started writing these letters as a way to reach out, to remind you that theatre is still here and we are still a community. I also wrote them because it helped me feel connected to you – our South Shore Players family.

Over this past year we produced 12 episodes of Conversations with Cast and Crew, which are still available to watch on our Facebook page. We presented the Ivor Harrington Award for 2019 to two young actors. We offered over thirty online workshops on a variety of theatre topics. We produced our first-ever online show: Christmas Spirits. And we put together a mini pop-up Valentine’s video!

South Shore Players is one of many wonderful community theatre organizations throughout our province. In recognizing this, Theatre Nova Scotia has decided to keep us all connected through a wonderful video series featuring interviews with members of various theatre groups. The video being posted today is for South Shore Players and features Jon Allen and yours truly. Here’s the link! Enjoy watching and share throughout our community and beyond. Theatre Nova Scotia deserves our gratitude for this lovely initiative.

I am excited to announce that South Shore Players will run two Youth Theatre Camps this summer, which I am delighted to direct. Due to COVID restrictions, we are currently offering nine spaces at each camp. Week 1 will be August 9-13 for ages 7-11 with a focus on musical theatre and Week 2 will be August 16-20 for ages 10-14 with a focus on improvisation and scripted drama. Both camps will run from 9:00-3:00 pm and the fee will be $170. Details will be included in my next newsletter, and you can email me if you would like to hold a space.

The 2021 Annual Fund continues until March 31. We appreciate your continued support!

Yours,

Colleen Naomi
