“We get up in the morning.  We do our best.  Nothing else matters.”
~ Dame Judi Dench

Sunny Greetings!

What does theatre mean in our lives? This is a question I have been considering over the past year. Please send me your response to that question and I will publish some of the answers in a future newsletter!

We are pleased to announce that 100 Years of the Bluenose – The Musical is available to watch online here. It is a one-hour production suitable for all ages, featuring familiar faces from South Shore Players. It was great to be on the stage again with such a talented cast of actors, singers and musicians!

Our Annual General Meeting is scheduled for June 23 at 7:00 pm and will be held via Zoom. Find out what we’ve been up to, hear about future plans, and offer your input. South Shore Players’ members will receive an email on June 18 with our board reports, as well as details on how to join the AGM by computer or phone. There will also be an important document regarding proposed changes to our Constitution and By-Laws and we need you there to vote on them! If you are not a member, contact me to receive this email. Or join us now as a lifetime member for a one-time $10 administrative fee.

In September 2019 our Locally Yours Script Selection Committee chose six wonderful plays by Nova Scotians to produce in 2020. But the world had different plans. Locally Yours 2020 changed to Locally Yours 2021. Now restrictions prevent us once again from preparing this show. However, we are too excited about these plays to let them go! So Locally Yours will come to the stage in 2022, with dates to be announced in the new year.

We are very excited about this year’s annual holiday show: Canada’s Ocean Playground. It is a revue-style production written by our own Hank Middleton, directed by Jon Allen with musical direction by Darlene Sanford. Please note TOMORROW is the last day to contact Jon to book an audition (see the notice below). The production will also be looking for a range of people to help out behind the scenes. You may contact Jon throughout the summer for those opportunities.
