Privacy Statement
The South Shore Players is committed to providing our visitors with a website that respects their privacy. Canadian law requires that we inform you of what personal information we collect, how we use it and how we safeguard it.
I. Information we gather and track
If you choose to purchase tickets or pay membership or workshop fees using our shopping cart, our website will require your name, a billing address, a telephone number and an e-mail address. You will then be taken to a page on PayPal’s highly secure website, where you will be asked for your credit card information or your PayPal address and password. Our website does not have access to your PayPal information or any credit card information that you enter on PayPal’s page nor does our website store, process or transmit any credit card data.
If you make a donation to the South Shore Players through our website, the credit card transaction is handled through PayPal’s highly secure, standards-compliant system. We will only receive your name and email address via PayPal. Our website does not store, process or transmit any credit card data.
If you contact us directly or in person to purchase tickets, or pay membership or workshop fees, we will require your name, a mailing address, a telephone number and an e-mail address in order to communicate with you in the future.
We also use analytics tracking to understand how people find our website and how they use it, in order to improve our website. The program we use is Google Analytics; it places a cookie – a tiny piece of code/data that is saved by the browser on your computer – that lets us know whether you have visited our website before or not. Google Analytics does not give us personal information that we could use to identify you. If you turn JavaScript “off” in your browser, Google Analytics will not work but you will find that many features on our website, and on other websites, will not work either. You may block or remove cookies from your browser but this action will also remove functionality from many websites. Please be assured that we do not use this information to identify you; it is only used to understand traffic patterns on our website and to provide our customers with a better experience.
When you request pages on the SouthShorePlayers.ca web server, the server automatically recognizes the browser’s domain name, IP address, operating system, browser type and version as well as the referring URL. This information is used to aggregate information on traffic to our website. This information is collected solely for statistical purposes and is not used to identify individuals. These servers do not record e-mail addresses.
SouthShorePlayers.ca may send you a cookie – a tiny piece of code/data stored on the user’s computer. Cookie and tracking technology is useful for gathering information such as browser type and operating system, tracking the number of visitors to the website and understanding how visitors use the website. Cookies may also help customize the website for visitors. Personal information may not be collected via cookies or other tracking technology. However, if you previously provided personally identifiable information, cookies may be tied to such information. Cookies are sometimes necessary for the website to function fully. Aggregate cookie and tracking information will not be shared with third parties.
If you join our email list, we will keep your name and email address on a secure server hosted by Google. If you no longer wish to receive our emails, you can easily unsubscribe anytime by clicking the unsubscribe link which appears at the bottom of every email message we send you.
